Why Slate of Swan
Why our foundation report design gets read
Plenty of studios can make a report look good. Far fewer take the time to understand what it is actually saying. We do both.
Cerebral, not decorative
We interpret impact data the way an analyst would, before we ever set a page. We do not just style it.
Advisory-grade fluency
As the creative studio of Consultivo, we bring SDG, GRI and BRSR literacy in house.
One story, every channel
Report, launch film and social carousels, all built from a single, coherent narrative.
Global impact specialism
An impact and sustainability focus that most design agencies simply do not have.
The challenge
A global foundation, hundreds of numbers, one reader's attention
How do you tell the story of a foundation working across three continents, dozens of partners and hundreds of impact indicators, without losing the very person you are trying to reach?
That was the question behind the 2025 activity report of the Louis Dreyfus Foundation. The Foundation stands beside smallholder farmers and rural communities across Africa, Asia and Latin America, through food security, sustainable agriculture, agricultural education and community resilience. This is work that speaks directly to the Sustainable Development Goals, from zero hunger to quality education and climate action.
The report had to carry all of that weight, and still feel human, warm and readable on every single page.
Our approach
We did not see it as a set of pages. We saw it as an impact communication project.
So we started every chapter with one quietly demanding question:
How can someone grasp the Foundation's work in a few minutes, and still feel its depth?
The Foundation brought the substance. The programs, the data, the stories gathered from the field. Our job was to shape how all of it was read. The order it unfolds in, the moments it slows down, and the places where a single number is allowed to land.
Connecting data, narrative and design
Turning complex information into a reading experience
Six moves carried the reader all the way from the Foundation's purpose to its numbers, without ever leaving them behind.
A flow, not a stack of pages
We reshaped the content into a natural journey, from purpose to programs, impact, governance and finances, so the reader always moves forward with intent.
Deciding where the reader pauses
Before a single page was designed, we storyboarded every section, mapping where numbers should lead and where a story should slow the reader down.
Not every number is equal
We used type, space, color and layout to lift the figures that matter most, so the reader feels the headline outcome before reading a word.
Data you can actually absorb
Large datasets, program summaries and maps were redrawn into clear, digestible visuals, quick to skim yet rich enough to reward a closer look.
A visual language of its own
Custom illustrations, icons and graphic elements reinforce the Foundation's identity and hold the whole publication together as one piece.
A person behind every statistic
Beneficiary stories were woven in alongside the data, so a figure never sat alone and the reader stayed connected to real lives and communities.
The idea that guided everything
From metric to meaning
A number earns attention. A story earns memory. Across the report, we made sure the two were never more than a glance apart.
A look inside
Glimpses of the report
A few pages from the finished publication, and a sense of how it carries the reader from opening statement to human story.

One report, many front doors
A report is a destination. A busy stakeholder will not arrive on their own, so we also built the roads that lead them there. The same story that lives in the publication was carried into a launch film and a set of social carousels, each one designed to bring a different audience back to the report itself.
The full story, told in depth
The activity report holds everything, the programs, the data, the governance and the human stories, in one considered read for donors, partners and boards.
A film that pulls people in
We distilled the year's impact into a short launch film, a story you can feel in under two minutes. Its job is to stop the scroll and draw viewers toward the full report.
Human stories, made shareable
We lifted the real case studies from the report, the farmers, the classrooms, the communities, and rebuilt them as social carousels. Each one is a doorway that invites people to read more.
Behind the pages
A look at how we got there
The work most readers never see, and the reason the finished pages feel so effortless.
Immersion
We absorbed the Foundation's mission, programs and source material, understanding the impact before shaping it.
Narrative mapping
We designed the reading journey, the order, rhythm and hierarchy of the whole report, before touching a layout.
Storyboard and structure
Section by section, we planned where data leads, where stories pause the reader, and where visuals do the talking.
Visual system
Type, color, grid, illustration and iconography were built into one consistent language for the publication.
Design and information craft
We translated datasets and maps into clear, considered spreads, and refined the client's copy for flow and readability.
Extend and launch
The story carried beyond the page into a launch film and social carousels, one message told consistently across every channel.
