Shaping Emotionally Intelligent Learning Ecosystems: Slate of Swan at CII Education East Summit 2025
The 4th Edition of the CII Education East Summit 2025, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Eastern Region, took place on 30–31 October 2025 at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata. The theme – “Eastern India’s Education Transformation: Roadmap to Viksit Bharat @ 2047” – focused on how education can evolve to shape the India of tomorrow.
As part of this dialogue, Ms Madhabi Guha Basu, Co-founder of Slate of Swan and Director – Sustainable Solutions at Consultivo, moderated a thought-provoking session on “Redefining Campus Culture: Integrating Mental Wellbeing into Learning Ecosystems.”
The panel brought together diverse voices from education, governance, and technology – Ms Bratati Bhattacharya, Group Director of Management Studies, JIS Group; Prof. Sanku Bose, Vice Chancellor, SNU; Ms Richa Singh, Co-founder & CEO, YourDOST; and Dr. Neetu Bhagat, Deputy Director, AICTE.
Reflecting on the discussion, Madhabi Guha Basu shared,
“Five years of NEP 2020 remind us that education is not just about academic excellence. It’s about developing the whole person – the mind, the heart, and the character.”
She further noted that campuses today are microcosms of a fast-changing world – competitive, digital, and socially diverse. These dynamics often bring new forms of pressure and stress for both students and educators.
“It’s time to make mental health a natural part of campus life – not just a service we seek in moments of crisis,” she added.
The conversation centred on how institutions can evolve from reactive counselling models to proactive, caring ecosystems. Such ecosystems weave wellbeing into leadership, pedagogy, and everyday communication.
Key takeaways from the session included:
- Making wellbeing a leadership priority within institutions.
- Embedding emotional health into pedagogy and campus culture.
- Leveraging technology to provide scalable mental health support.
- Creating inclusive spaces that ensure empathy, safety, and belonging.
- Encouraging collaboration between educators, policymakers, and mental health experts to sustain the movement.
At Slate of Swan, we believe that mental wellbeing is at the heart of every thriving ecosystem – whether in classrooms, workplaces, or communities. Our work in ESG innovation, impact communication, and human-centred design supports organisations in creating cultures of empathy, safety, and trust.
The session was a reminder that the way we design learning environments today will define the kind of society we build tomorrow – one that truly values mental wellbeing as a cornerstone of growth and transformation.
